The gemstone Prehnite was named for its discoverer, Colonel Hendrik von Prehn (1733-1785), a Dutch mineralogist and an early governor of the Cape of Good Hope colony. Prehnite was also the very first mineral to be named and described from South Africa, long before South Africa became an important source for precious stones.
This gemstone is a hydrated calcium aluminum silicate that occurs in a soft yellow-green to apple-green color. Many of them have an intriguing luminous quality. Prehnite is a medium-hard gem with a rating of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale. (the Mohs scale of minerals hardness characterizes the scratch resistance of various gemstones through the ability of a harder material to scratch a softer material)
Prehnite can often be found in large sizes, sometimes as large as 100 carats. It is a relatively inexpensive gem, though higher quality faceted material may sell for prices approximately the same as amethyst or citrine. Generally the faceted material is found only in smaller sizes. It can be found in South Africa, Australia, China, Scotland and the United States.
Prehnite enhances inner knowledge and connects the will and the heart. Known as the Stone of Prophecy, Prehnite has long been used by South African indigenous shamans. It boosts prophetic abilities and it enhances visualization and spiritual “knowing,” and aids in connecting with higher realms, including your higher self as well as spiritual and extraterrestrial beings. Prehnite is considered a stone of unconditional love and the crystal to heal the healer. It enhances precognition and calms the environment bringing peace and protection.

Statement green agate pendant was wire wrapped in gold plated silver. For more details see here.
Agate is a translucent variety of microcrystalline quartz. It is used as a semi-precious stone when it is of desirable quality and color. Agate generally forms by the deposition of silica from ground water in the cavities of igneous rocks. Agate occurs in a wide range of colors which include: brown, white, red, gray, pink, black and yellow. The colors are caused by impurities and occur as alternating bands within the agate. The different colors were produced as ground waters of different compositions seeped into the cavity. Agate has been used as gemstone for thousands of years. They were some of the earliest stones fashioned by people.
Agate is a stone of strength. It was used by the Ancients on the breastplates of armor to give warriors strength and make them victorious in battle. Energetically, it is considered to give strength in both battle and physically. Agate enhances creativity and strengthens the intellect, making it a beneficial stone for both students and artists. It is also known as a good luck stone. Emotionally, agate gives courage, emotional strength, self-confidence, and dispels fears. It can also lessen feelings of envy by grounding the emotions. Because of the harmonizing qualities of agate, and its emotional energies of removing and releasing resentments and bitterness, it is also considered by many to be an excellent stone for helping to heal and improve relationships.
